Hey there, future financial experts and parents who want the best for their kids! We're Ben Hofstetter and Nick Zehrung, the dynamic duo behind the My First Finance Book series. We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share our passion for kids' financial education. Ben Hofstetter: A Journey Ignited by Empowerment My journey into the world of financial education began during my time as a young Officer in the U.S. Army. While studying business in college, I encountered concepts like compound interest and long-term investing. It all made sense theoretically, but it wasn't until I witnessed the real-world consequences of financial illiteracy that everything clicked into place. I found myself working closely with Soldiers facing financial challenges, and it became painfully clear how pervasive financial illiteracy was among adults, including myself. I felt a deep need to address this gap from an early age. After leaving the Army, I transitioned into a consulting career with a leading tech company. Even then, I continued to channel my coaching and mentoring skills to drive revenue and assist individuals in achieving financial success. But something was missing. I wanted to make a more significant impact. That's when I embarked on creating the first series of children's books centered around personal finance. My ultimate goal? To equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills to become more financially savvy than I ever could be. I warmly invite you to join me on this transformative journey where learning about finance becomes engaging, accessible, and fun. Discover the world of finance through the eyes of a child and set your young ones on a path to financial success. Learn more about my mission at My First Finance Book. Nick Zehrung: Committed to Empowering Kids Through Education My journey towards financial education took shape after I graduated from Gonzaga University in 2015 and joined the U.S. Army. During my time in the Army, I found myself in a unique position to teach, coach, and mentor many Soldiers who had never thought about money or personal finances before. I quickly recognized the importance of financial literacy and decided to take it upon myself to learn as much as I could about personal finances to better support my fellow soldiers. After seven years of service as an officer, I decided to further my education by pursuing an MBA at Willamette University. During my studies, I stumbled upon my true passion - helping communities' kids find purpose. This passion led me to work with the Salvation Army in Salem, Oregon, where I witnessed firsthand the impact of financial education on young minds. My commitment to empowering kids through education perfectly aligns with the mission of the My First Finance Book series. Alongside Ben Hofstetter, I'm on a mission to make financial education accessible and engaging for children. Join me on this incredible journey to provide kids with the tools they need to secure a financially prosperous future. Discover how the My First Finance Book series can shape young minds and prepare them for a lifetime of financial success.
